Latest News - Shipping and Stuff!

Hey everyone - quick update from Wayfinder Towers (aka: Michael's couch).
First of all, we're halfway through shipping out copies of The Split. Everyone who backed the campaign at the "Grab the Game" level have had their copies shipped out, and should receive them in the coming weeks (if you haven't got it already). It may take a little longer for shipments to reach the US thanks to International Postage Awfulness, but they're on the way.
That leaves us with backers who pledged for the "Grab All The Loot" level, who I was hoping would also have had their packages shipped at this point. Of course, they have not - not yet - and this is down to the manufacturers for the pin badges. We submitted designs and payment pretty much the day that the KS funds landed in our account, but the makers have been absolutely smacked with COVID-related staff issues. They've assured us that the badges will be with us here in Belfast in the next week or so, meaning that we'll be able to ship all the remaining packages out immediately after. I've been in contact with them regularly, and they're running with less than a skeleton staff, all of whom are trying their best. It's understandable that there are delays on their side.
On our side though, everything is packed up, labelled, and ready to go. Essentially, all we need to do is drop the pin badges into the envelopes and boom, the shipments will be on the way. I'll post another quick update when this happens, of course.
For now though, we'd like to thank you again for the support and for your patience. The remaining packages will be on the way... soon! And if you're one of the 18 people who still haven't completed the pledge manager, get that done as soon as you can!

The Split has landed!

Well, we did promise that we were going to turn this project around quickly...
The campaign for The Split launched on August 31st. We finished on September 16th, received the funds a couple of weeks after that, then placed all the orders for the cards, rulesheets, poker chips and pin badges. Today's October 22nd, and look what's here...
(Yeah, no pin badges yet, but we're assured they'll be arriving next week! But that does mean we can get on with sending out game only and retailer levels...)
Anyhow! We plan on beginning shipping soon. Very soon, in fact... like, next week soon. To get that process up and running as quickly and simply as possible, we're working with the good folks over at Backerkit to collect shipping payments, so please keep an eye on your emails! You should receive a message over the weekend directing you to the Backerkit page for The Split - if you don't, give us a shout via Kickstarter and we'll do what we can to sort stuff out for you.
As a heads up, costs for shipping went up a little bit over the past few weeks, and for that, we apologise in advance. Backers in the UK will be looking at a total cost of £5 to ship, while our European supporters are covered with £6. US and Canada backers costs are £9, and the rest of the world will come in at £10. Yeah, it's higher than we wanted, but this does cover everything - the actual cost of sending packages, padded enveloped, labels and all that. BTW, If you're in Belfast, Northern Ireland, you'll be able to request local pickup, saving your cash!
I think that's everything for now? I'll be back with another update later next week to let you know how shipping is progressing, and show off the badges when they land. Have an excellent weekend, and we'll catch y'all soon!

Please Hold, Your Game Is Very Important To Us

Hey folks! Michael from Wayfinder Games here with our first 'proper' post-campaign update! We're currently busy working on Wayfinder's second and third games, but rest assured, our focus is on making sure production of The Split is moving along.
It's been a couple of weeks since the campaign drew to a close, and yesterday I got an email from KS saying that we'd be getting a final total of (drumroll)... £3715.93. Knowing that's on the way (it hasn't arrived yet, it's still floating somewhere in the financial ether), orders have been placed for rules, pin badges and poker chips aplenty, and I've spoken with the printer who'll be sending us an invoice shortly. Once that's landed, I'll be able to pay the outstanding balance on that and production of the actual game will commence!
I'm hoping that they'll be able to turn the printing around in decent time - when we've spoken in the past, they've assure me it'll be no more than "a few days". With that in mind, that could mean I'll have a few copies in hand for Essen! Not only does this mean we'll be able to show The Split to potential international partners, but - assuming everything goes OK - we could even hand deliver copies to folks who are attending Spiel. This isn't guaranteed yet, but cross your fingers... I'll keep you updated.
On the subject of deliveries and handovers, once I've confirmed the delivery date of the games, you can expect to receive an email from the good folks at Backerkit shortly afterwards. This will give you access to the pledge manager and shipping information, which I'd encourage you to fill out as quickly as you can. We're definitely on track to meet our promised delivery schedule of November, and completing the Backerkit link quickly will help us massively. Otherwise we'll just have to put your game in a bottle, hurl it into the River Lagan, and hope your copy gets to you somehow. In short, fill out the thing!
For now, I'd like to wish you all an excellent weekend! And once again, thanks for helping us make The Split an Actual Thing.

We did it!

Thanks to the support of you, our fabulous backers, we did it - and we did it in style. The Split is going to happen, and we'd like to thank every single one of you for the help in getting us here. Of course, the end of the campaign is really only the start of the work, as both Rain and myself are in for a lot over the coming weeks...
It's this point where you'll need to make sure that the card attached to your Kickstarter account still works, because funds are being taken right now. If you get a notice saying you need to update your card, get it sorted as soon as you can - the folks at KS will attempt to take your pledge a couple of times before they give up. We should receive the funds in three weeks time (so... October 7th), and will have all the updated box and new card layouts all done by that date - as Rain gets them sorted, we'll post up images in updates for you to check out.
When the money has landed, we'll pay the manufacturer on the same day, and will get the games shortly afterwards. Remember, we're producing The Split and all other elements in the UK, so the actual turnaround will be a matter of weeks rather than months and months! I'll actually be going to Essen Spiel a couple of days after, and am hoping that we'll be able to get hold of some copies before I leave. If that happens, I'll be able to hand over copies of the game to folks who are also heading to the show - again, I'll keep you informed as to what's happening.
That brings us on to Shipping and Delivery! You should expect to receive a link to our pledge manager in the coming weeks, where you'll be able to cover the costs of getting The Split to your doorstep. We're still looking into shipping options, but promise to make it as affordable as possible - as soon as that's all confirmed, again, we'll update you.
And now... time to get back to work!

Third (and final) Stretch Goal Down!

Hey folks! We're in the final hours of the campaign, and we're happy to say that The Split will come with three Bonus Cheat Cards as we've surpassed the £3400 mark. At this point, we're not going to add any extra elements to the game - we have some other ideas for Cheat Cards, sure, but they've not been tested. Also, it might be nice to do something wild like Actually Pay Rain Some Money for all the art and stuff they've done, you know?
There's a whole bunch of things to do over the coming weeks, and we (well, Michael) are busy putting together a schedule for you all with what to expect for production and delivery, as well as details on the pledge manager where you'll be able to pay for shipping your games. You can expect to see that shortly after the campaign finishes on Thursday, just after 1pm UK time!
For now though, as we coast towards the finish line, we'd like to thank each and every one of you for supporting the first campaign from Wayfinder Games. This really is only the beginning, of course, but our gratitude is huge. Now, time to get back to work!
